New THUNDERSTONE League starts this month – March 2012

This month see’s the beginning of our new Thunderstone league. Each month a random game will be generated and the elements to expect will be posted here with a link on Facbook as well. It will be a simple structure for scoring with 5 pts for 1st, 4 for 2nd etc. The total Victory Points will also be recorded to split any ties on the ladder. The ladder will also be published here.

This month we will be playing with 3 Thunderstones and a Setting, something we have not used before….

The settings are similar to Global effects, but stay in play for the entire game.

This should help thin out those decks nicely……

The three Thunderstones also contain one with a nasty surprise…

Stone of Agony, Stone of Fate & Stone of Mystery

So What horrors does the dungeon hold??

DoomKnights, Centaurs & Dopplegangers, the last two have never been played before at the club and each has its own special effects….

Doomnights - nasty at the best of times, Centaurs - they steal things and Dopplegangers - more of the same......

And what of the brave souls facing these? Our Heroes:

 Toryn and Elf..

Dark and Slynn..

The village will try to supply the heroes but the pickings are bare….

Cyclone, Hatchet, Trader, Bluefire Staff, Chieftens Drum, Soul Gem, Short Bow and Polymorph. Looks like a tough gig….. Good luck to those who play this Sunday, I look forward to the challenge and your company.              Signing off, Truhlsrohk.

November Meeting Review

We had a large crowd turn up today, with some new faces which is always great (hi!). There were a huge number of Game of Games record sheets handed in today, and we are happy that members have responded to this new system.

Some “technical issues” will delay the posting of any Game of Games scores for a week or so after this post. Please be patient, and the front page will be updated when the scores are entered in. Also for the December meeting we hope to have a functioning slide show showing off all the rank badges.

Quarriors was a brand new game played today that attracted a lot of interest and enjoyment. The committee are looking at the club’s financial position and if we can possibly afford to buy a few newer games (and extra copies of Dominion!) before the next meeting, Quarriors will certainly be one of them.

Other games being played today included Chicken Cha Cha, Talisman, Connect 4, Magic: The Gathering, Thunderstone, Dominion, Settlers of Catan, and Deadwood, and very interesting Wild West game. The club library was once again busy, with plenty of games being returned or checked out (or both!).

The club’s next meeting, and the final one for 2011, will be on December 18.
