A Game of Games April 2013

It was a busy month of playing games and renewing memberships, or joining for the first time. With so much activity it’s not surprising that a number of people gained a new rank this month. Leader of the pack Eddie has knocked over another rank reaching Archduke. Twelve other members also gained ranks.

A Game of Games March 2013

It was a very busy meeting on a day that just got hotter. Our thanks go to all club members who helped to move the tables and tabletops as requested, your efforts are very much appreciated.

Eight players gained ranks today in A Game of Games, these were:

Anthony H is now a Count, Angela C is a Countess
Steve M is now a Baron
Mark W is a Baronet
Martin I is a Knight
Steve T, Alexis A, and Leigh R are all Esquires

We also have a few new members who have just started gaining points, so there are new Novices on the board too!

A Game of Games, January 2013

It was a large club meeting to kick off 2013, with 54 members and guests playing a lot of different games. Ten club members gained a rank today, including Leanne J, who is now a Princess of Gaming. We always knew it!

A Game of Games December 2012

The Christmas meeting was incredibly busy with a very full hall, filled with very full gamers after the massive lunch everybody brought, plus the addition of pizzas. You will be pleased to know that we were up to the challenge and very little food was left over at the end!

There were a couple of special events, the LXG Christmas Trivia, and the Grand Melee and Thunderstone league finals, that boosted people’s points quite significantly. Outside of that the sheer volume of games being played meant there are more ranks gained in December than in any month so far!

Ranks Gained:
David K is now an Elector, joining Eddie C at the highest rank gained so far, thanks to his league organiser points for running the grand melee league.
Keith D is now a Prince, with his league organiser points from the Viewpoint league yet to be added to his score. Running the trivia event netted Keith a cool 100 points, and they were well deserved given the amount of work Keith put into making this event run smoothly!
Jeremy N is now a Marquis, with his points for running the Thunderstone league yet to be added too.
Ross vS is now a Count, the only one of that rank at present.
Anthony H is now a Viscount
Three new Barons today are Nigel B, Andrew B, and Liam P; also Vanessa T is a Baroness
Tim H, Andrew W, and Edward E are all Baronets, with Grace C a Baronetess
Two new knights; Luke I and Luis C
A whopping five new Esquires as Jason A, Veronica A, David B, Rory W and Lauren W move up past novice rank.

Games of Games update November 2012

Fourteen club members gained at rank today, at a very well attended club meeting. Dozens of members and guests braved the early summer storms to play some games! In fact the weather was rather convenient, with the shy clear as members arrived, two separate downpours during the day, and then clear skies as we all departed!

We also had three previous members rejoin today, thus reactivating their old scores (and adding today’s games to that score). If you do leave the club and rejoin later, your old points will be waiting for you, you can’t lose them!

A Game of Games October 2012

Eighteen club members went up a rank out of today’s meeting. Eightneen. Well done guys!

Current ladder leader Eddie C knocked over another rank, reaching Elector. There is now well over one hundred points and the Prince/Princess rank between Eddie and his closest rival. Today’s update also includes points won at last month’s Viewpoint games.

A Game of Games Update September 2012

There was a busy club day today, and so there were a few game of games results sheets handed in. There were fewer sheets than usual today, mainly because people were playing fewer, longer games this month.

Six club members gained a rank today:
Courtney J is now a Marchioness
John M is now a Viscount
Lance A is now a Baron
Andrew B is a Baronet
Kathleen B and Alex Su reached Esquire rank

Well done to all! There are currently a few games sheets still to be handed in, namely the Viewpoint league results and the late game of Settlers of Catan.

The current ladder leader, Eddie C, is just four points away from reaching Elector level!

A Game of Games, July 2012 Update

The scores have now been updated with the last new sheets from Winter Retreat, plus all of the July meeting results, including the Twilight Imperium game that lasted for the whole club meeting, plus the Viewpoint and Midgard games.

Twelve club members gained a rank at this meeting (or through Winter Retreat points).

David M, Jeremy N and Jason C are now at the rank of Viscount
John M, Ross vS, and Alex Sp are now Barons
Angela C is a Baronetess and Luke vS is a Baronet
Callum McK, Kaden C and Phil S are now Esquires

Game of Games at Winter Retreat

A lot of games were played and so a lot of ranks were gained. The 8th level fell to the redoubtable Eddie C, who is now leading the rankings as our first Duke. With a massive 129 points gained over Winter Retreat, Eddie actually increased his lead as no one got more than that!

The updated rankings are based on all game sheets received over Winter Retreat, up to 12.30 on Sunday. Any sheets completed after then will be added to members’ scores after the July club meeting.

If you are a non-member who attended Winter Retreat, your scores on the slips that were completed and handed in have been counted. If you join LXG over the next month or two those scores will be added to the leaderboard. If you’re curious to know how much you got, just ask in the comments section below.

Fifteen club members who attended Winter Retreat this year gained a rank. Some club members actually skipped an entire rank, so great was their haul of points!

Our First Marquis

With the results from the Viewpoint State Finals in, there are also some additional Game of Games points to calculate. Five of the competitors managed to gain a rank from their efforts, including current ladder leader Eddie, who ascends to the rank of Marquis.

There is now a full rank (Count/Countess) lying between Eddie and the second-ranked player. Our club president has opened quite a lead!

Others who gained a rank are:

Sam M is now a Baronet
Nigel B, Oliver C, and Grace C have all reached the rank of Knight/Lady.

Let us not forget Keith D who put on the event. Keith receives organiser points, which moves him up two ranks to Viscount, just three points ahead of son Alex!

A Game of Games Update, May 2012

Another big day in May, with 47 people competing in A Game of Games. We had quite a few new ranks this month, remember your new badges will be available for purchase at the June meeting. Cost per badge is $2.50 with $1 of this going to MS.

A Games of Games update, February 2012

The two-day Summer Legends, including double points Saturday, certainly had a big effect on the rankings for A Game of Games. Some people were able to skip whole ranks and speed ahead. Also we have our first three barons.

Eddie C managed this feat thanks to the new organiser points, and running a 19 player Warhammer Fantasy tournament over Summer Legends. David K and Adrian R managed the same by playing lots of games on both days!

Congratulations also to our new Baronets and Baronetesses; Jason C, Leanne J, Jeremy N, and Courtney J. They have all exceeded 100 points to achieve this.

We have eight new Knights; Keith D, Ross vS, Graham M, John M, Terry K, Alex S, Barbara K, and Lance A. Barbara and Lance did not stop at Esquire on their way to knighthood, but jumped straight from Novice!

Speaking of Esquires we have two new ones; Megan L and Liam P.

A Games of Games Update, January 2012

A busy start to the year, with twenty-eight club members gaining in points this month. We also have our first member to reach the rank of Baronet – Adrian R, whose total score is now exactly 100, the minimum needed to reach that rank. Congratulations Adrian! Adrian played War Machine, Quarriors, and Magic: The Gathering this month.

We also have three new knights – Courtney J, David M and Alex D, and two new Esquires, Daniel McG (at his first meeting, no less!) and Angela C. Well done all!

Next month is a full weekend meeting for Summer Legends. On the Saturday, all games played will be worth double points for A Game of Games, so be sure to come along for your chance to charge up the rankings!
