Results of 2012 AGM

At the meeting on July 15, we put some time aside for our Annual General Meeting. At each AGM, all committee positions are considered open, though existing committee members can be re-nominated for the same position.

The 2012/13 League of Extraordinary Committee members are:

President: Eddie Crompton (re-nominated)
Vice President: David Morton
Treasurer: Keith Done (re-nominated)
Secretary: Jeremy Norton (re-nominated)
Events/Web: David Kay

Thanks go to last year’s Events Co-ordinator Adrian Roberts. Last year’s Vice President, David Kay steps into this role which is now re-cast around maintaining the website and running A Game of Games.

Also at the AGM Terry K asked for a motion to give life membership to Mal O and Angela C. Mal and Ange do the lion’s share of the work on the canteen each club meeting, including a lot of cooking, and buying the water and soft drink that we all consume during the meetings. This motion was happily voted through by the membership.

A committee report for the outgoing committee will be posted here as soon as all the parts have been written!

Lastly, if you are a current club member and would like to think about serving on the committee, please see one of the current committee members, who can explain what being on the committee is all about. You are also welcome to attend any of the committee meetings, which happen every month.

July Meeting Preview

This coming Sunday 15 July is our next meeting. This is the earliest in a month the meeting can happen, with our ‘third Sunday of the month’ roster. Hope to see you all there at our first meeting following winter retreat.

This month’s meeting will also feature our AGM, starting at 1.00pm. Please speak to one of the committee if you are interested in taking up a post this year.

Our leagues in Magic: the Gathering, Thunderstone, and Viewpoint will continue. The games library will be full again once all the games taken to winter retreat are back, and you can borrow normally again. You may also like to check your rank on A Game of Games and see if you are close to your next badge, or if you have another to get after winter retreat.

See you on Sunday!

2012 LXG AGM

The club meeting on 15 July will see our Annual General Meeting take place. If you aren’t familiar, at the AGM we report on the club’s activities for the year, and then elect a committee to take the club forward into the following year.

All committee are automatically opened for election at this point.

Any club member may nominate any other club member for a position (please ask them first!) Once seconded, the nomination becomes official.

In the event of two or more nominations being put forward for a single position, election will be by a simple show of hands among those club members present.

Committee members remain in place until the 2013 AGM, when committee positions will become available once more.

Some more details about the positions themselves will be posted in the week leading up to the club meeting. In addition the current committee will present a 2012 committee report, which will replace the President’s Report on this website.

July Meeting and AGM

Another month, another meeting. This one was a little light in attendance, but then it’s only two weeks since Winter Retreat.

We had 30+ attendees playing a variety of board and card games including Settlers of Catan, Battlelore, Ra, Thunderstone, and Magic: The Gathering. War Machine was also played on the miniatures side of things.

The most notable activity was the AGM. The new club committee is as follows:

President: Eddie Crompton
Vice President: David Kay
Treasurer: Keith Done
Secretary: Jeremy Norton
Events Co-Ordinator: Adrian Roberts

Outgoing committee members are Sean Serin (Vice President) and Jason Cooper (Treasurer). Thanks to them and the rest of the 2011 committee for the work they have for the club over the year.

Also, if you are a club member who is considering joining the committee, by all means talk to one of the above if you’d like to know more about the job.
