LXG Library Grant

In May of this year, LXG was successful in its application for a grant from Southside Sport and Community Club. This organisation has been running community grants each February since 2005 to organisations located in the 4121, 4122, 4113 and 4109 post code areas for equipment and specific resources.

David K and Adrian R collected the grant cheque in June as members of last year’s committee, at a very well attended ceremony. About 60 other community groups were also receiving grant cheques so this is a very important and welcome local initiative that Southside Sport and Community Club have undertaken, and our thanks goes to them.

In LXGs case this grant enables us to bring our games library into the modern era! The grant has paid for barcode label, a scanner, and some software to run the library borrowing system. No more writing the game down in a book, or flicking through the book to see if the game you can’t find is currently out! If all goes well with installation and set up, the system will be up and running in time for Winter Legends on August 18.

Library games will have barcodes put on the boxes in August and September. Any ‘not for loan’ games will have no barcode, but for the next couple of months, no barcode probably means we haven’t gotten around to labelling that box yet! Library borrowing rule won’t be changing, and access is still available to all family and individual memberships.

There was an original notice here, and now we have the gear almost ready we thought it was time for an update.
